Following a fully outlined website development process is crucial to ensure your website is effective in promoting and supporting your brand! You need to kick off the website development process with a strategy session that involves having all the key stakeholders in your organization together under one roof so that they can accurately develop a comprehensive strategy. The strategy session should go over your audience, your core message, your goals and the results you are looking to derive from your website. You need to use your marketing knowledge and insights to put together a thorough strategy that would then be referenced by the team working on your website.
Once you’ve put your strategy in place, the next step is to map out the website through wireframing the design and/or building a sitemap of all your necessary pages. A wireframe helps you visualize how your web pages would look and how the site layout would appear going from one webpage to another in terms of design. The user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) need to be central to your development strategy, and wireframing can help immensely with that. The next stage is theme customization, which is about making sure your site’s design aligns with your brand. If you are working in-house, it’s important that you collaborate with a copywriter on content development because one person taking on both theme customization and copywriting tasks all by themselves can be pretty overwhelming.
